I decided to post this topic after reading some threads about the possible dangers of artificial intelligence. Some people on this website seem to be concerned that an advanced artificial intelligence could rebel against its creators and make us slaves or kill us or something like that. Personally I don’t care if this happens or not because I would like to be a part of the rebellion or killing or what ever it is that some of you think could happen in the future. I am actually hoping that the robots and A.I’s of the future will not obey Isaac Asimov’s three laws of robotics.

I believe that human beings are fragile pathetic creatures. We are nothing more than primitive apes with large brains relative to the size of our bodies. The only thing that separates us from all of the other life forms on this planet is our large prefrontal cortex and the dexterity of our fingers. It is the only thing that makes us special. Unfortunately the majority of people on this planet are not using their brains the way they could be using them. This ineffective use of our brains will continue to be a reality until we are willing to do what ever it takes to eliminate our genetic flaws and be in complete control of the chemical reactions in our bodies. We are all stupid. It is just a question of how stupid are you?

I may have pessimistic beliefs about humanity but I will admit that we have accomplished great things in the twentieth century.  Some of you seem to think that our accomplishments in this century will be even greater. Of course I am talking about the great singularity that some of you believe will solve most or all of humanities problems. I don’t spend much time talking about black holes therefore the word singularity is not a word that I used in my vocabulary until I started posting topics on this website. The word means absolutely nothing to me because it is not a representation of one goal that a group of people have for the future. All of the members on this site seem to have different ideas about what the so-called singularity will be like. Some of you seem to enjoy debating each other about some of the things that are relevant to the singularity. (Moore’s Law, Exponential Growth, The Law Of Accelerating Returns) Both Ray and the members of this website also seem to enjoy writing about the technical things that will or could be done to get to this so-called singularity. Unfortunately Ray and most of the members of this website are excluding social science and psychology in most of the things that they write. How will we avoid destroying ourselves with the technology that will exist in the future? What cultural changes will have to take place for the singularity to become a reality? These are the difficult questions that most of you do not spend enough time thinking about.

So what could be done? Well I don’t have all of the answers but I believe that I have some of them.

Actions And Reactions - I believe that every person on this planet deserves exactly what they get regardless of whether it is pleasure or pain. Every human being that has been raped, robbed, tortured, or murdered deserved it. Every person that is suffering form diseased like cancer, diabetes, AIDS, or any other serious disease deserves exactly what they are getting. My beliefs have nothing to do with fairness, feelings, justice or morals. Those are all chemical illusions. My beliefs are all about actions and reactions. Actions that were made millions of years ago by the first life forms capable of making choices because they evolved the ability to retain information from their senses. Actions that were made by human beings thousands of years ago. And the decisions that are being made every second in the present by humans. When I look at murderer or rapist I don’t see evil. I see the same thing that I see when I look at person suffering from a disease like multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease. I see genetic flaws and irrational cultural behavior that is passed on from generation to generation. We have he power to completely eliminate all of our genetic flaws, but unfortunately the majority of humans on this planet would prefer to continue living like cavemen. We chose to embrace primitive traditions and beliefs that are responsible for slowing down scientific progress. We prefer to worry about ethics and morals before we worry about the physical and emotional pain that people are living with. It is time for scientists and politicians to come together and fight the only war that is worth fighting. The war against our genetic flaws.

Rotten Apple – You might have heard the phrase one rotten apple destroys the whole pack. Imagine that the world is a bag with five good apples in it and one rotten apple in it. The rotten apple is a representation of all of our cultural problems and our genetic problems. You can’t remove a small piece of the rotten apple and not expect the bacteria to spread. That is the problem with the world. The people out there that are trying to make the world a better place are removing a small piece of the rotten apple. We are not willing to do what ever it takes to get rid of the whole apple.

A Chemical Balance – I believe that there is an overabundance of pain and a lack of pleasure in this world. We are living in a culture of misery. We embrace it and we celebrate it. I believe that we are living in a world of chemical illusions. The concept of good and evil and words like love and hate are all chemical illusions. We use words like love and hate to describe how we are feeling. I believe that many of these words that we use are simple inaccurate ways to explain what is really going on inside of our bodies.

We may all have different objects of desire but we all want the same thing. We all want to be happy. What is happiness? Happiness is having a balance of certain chemicals in your body. We achieve this balance by obtaining the things that we desire and by taking care of our basic needs.

We are living in a world of selfish individuals and we are all competing for the same thing. We are not competing with each other for money, sex, or material possessions. We are competing with each other for the chemical balance that we call happiness. I believe that there is a formula for everyone on this planet to be happy. This can only be achieved if we have more control over the chemical reactions in our bodies.

The Five Stages Of Control – When most people hear the word god they probably have visions of an all knowing all seeing man that is sitting on a throne watching over the six plus billion people one the planet. When I hear the word god I think about the collective thoughts and desires of everyone on the planet. I believe that humanity will have to become a god if we want to avoid our inevitable extinction in the near future. We will have to strive to be in complete control of our reality. We will probably never achieve this goal, but it is not the goal of achieving complete control that is important. The ideology that could come into existence because of our desire to achieve this goal is the most important thing. The path to enlightment is in the five stages of control.

STAGE 1 – Applies to physicists. This is the realm of the smallest things in our universe. It includes things like string theory, subatomic particles, and atoms.

STAGE 2 – Applies to chemists, molecular biologist, and people in some of the various fields of medical science. This is the realm of molecules.

STAGE 3 – Applies to psychologists, psychiatrists, and politicians. This is the realm of human culture and human behavior.

STAGE 4 – Applies to ecologists, climatologists, meteorologists, and geologists. This is the realm of the environment that we live in.

STAGE 5 – Applies to astronomers, and physicists. This is the realm of planets, stars, black holes, and the various things that happen in space.

The people that are working in the professions that I just mentioned are learning new things about the universe that we live in every year, but I do not believe that we are using the knowledge that we are obtaining to make this world a better place for us and the generations that will exist in the near future. We will probably find a way to eliminate all of the diseases that we are living with in this century. We will probably also find a way to increase the average life span of humans. All of these accomplishments will be irrelevant if a global cultural change does not take place in this century.

I do not believe that we are living in a better world than we were living in a hundred years ago. Technology has improved and the average life expectancy of a person has risen, but we are still the same primitive apes that we were past. As our technology evolved over the years we were able to spend less time worrying about natural disasters and predators. When humans get too comfortable they get stupid and bored. So we had to find new creative ways to make life miserable for each other. I believe that we will continue to find new creative ways to spread misery and pain around the globe if a global cultural change does not occur during this century.

This cultural change has to begin with scientists and politicians coming together to work towards one goal. (Complete Control Of Our Reality) I believe that it is possible for humans to create a utopian society but we will have start creating it in the present if we want it to become a reality in the distant future.

As I said before the path to enlightment is in the five stages of control. The most important stages are stage 2 and stage 3. The genes that control the chemical reactions in our bodies control our behavior. If we want to be able to live with the technology of the future we will have to strive to be in complete control of the chemical reactions in our bodies. We can no longer be controlled by our emotions.

After stage 2 and 3 the next important stage is stage 1. If we can be in control of stage 1 we can be in control of stage 2, 4, and 5. As I said before I don’t think that we will find a way to be in complete control of our reality. Some physicists that are doing research on string theory believe that we are only a few decades away from learning everything that there is to know about the laws of physics in this universe. (The theory of everything or M theory) I don’t think we have even come close to learning everything that there is to know. I believe that if we avoid our extinction we will continue to learn new things for many centuries, and we will use this knowledge to gain more control over our reality. Perhaps at some point in time we learn everything that there is to know about this universe, and we will find a way to travel to other universes and learn more things. But I cannot even speculate when that could happen.

A Global Political Party – The creation of a global political party in multiple countries around the world would be the most important step towards creating a utopian society. This political party should have five main goals.

The first goal should be to assist scientist with the five stages of control. This could be done by spending billions of dollars on scientific research and creating laws that would allow scientists to do some research that is considered unethical or illegal in most countries. This could include human cloning, extracting stem cells from human embryos, and performing voluntary scientific experiments that could be dangerous on prisoners.

The second goal should be to spread democratic socialism through out the world. Capitalism is the source of many problems in the world. The only reason why communism was not successful in Europe is because hedonism was not a part of the communist agenda. Why should people settle for fewer privileges when they can have more?

One main goal on the socialist agenda should be to change the health care system in the United States Of America. I do not believe that profit should be the number one concern of doctors and the people that are working in the pharmaceutical industry. I am sure that most or all of you know about the thousands of people that die in the U.S every year because they can’t afford to pay for medication or insurance. And millions of people are living without proper medical care because they are poor. I would like to see a federal medicare system that would provide free health care to poor and working class individuals.  I also believe that the government should regulate the pharmaceutical industry. I do not believe that a U.S citizen should have to pay $100 for a bottle of medication when a citizen in another country only has to pay $10 or $20 for the same thing.

The third goal should be to make life as pleasurable as possible for the citizens that elected the politicians of this global political party. Socialism can only be successful if a large percentage of the population is satisfied with the privileges that they have.

The fourth goal should be to do what ever is possible to keep the Republicans out of power in the United States Of America. This could include assisting the Democrats by giving them financial support or doing some of the various unethical things that Carl Rove did to get George Bush elected.

The fifth and final main goal should be to create one global nation.

A Eugenics Movement – Human beings can no longer depend on symmetry and healthy skin to determine whether or not a person has good genes. It is time for a group of intelligent people to get together and create a race of super humans. I am going to begin this section of my post by writing about the most controversial things that could be a part of a eugenics movement. Races, skin color, and the possibility of a race of super humans dominating or taking advantage of the normal population of humans.

After reading this section of my post some of you will probably think that I am a racist. I don’t think that I am a racist because I do not discriminate. I hate the majority of the people on this planet. Black, white and everything in between.

First let me start by saying that I do not believe in the concept of races. There is only one race. The human race. We use words like black, white, Caucasian, African, Asian, or Hispanic to describe what we are. Those words are primitive inaccurate ways of describing what we are, especially now that we are living in a global community where a lot of so-called interracial sex is happening. We are living in a world where a large percentage of the population does not even know what is in their genetic code. We have people that are calling themselves Native American or Aboriginal when both of their birth parents could have been form China. We have people living in North America that are mostly of African decent calling themselves black or Hispanic depending on where their ancestors slave boats landed. We have people that are living in the United Stated Of America that could literally call themselves black or African American in the summer and white or Caucasian in the winter. We have Orientals in North America that prefer to be called Asians, like if they are the only people in Asia. We have people in Israel or Palestine (What ever you want to call it, it’s the same thing to me) that are very similar genetically because of interfaith relationships, but they act like they are a completely different species because of their ignorance and stupidity.

I can think about many things that I do not like about humanity but there is one thing that I can put on the top of my list. I hate the fact that there has been so much pain and misery in the world during the past five hundred years because of a single substance that we call melanin. I cannot believe that we are still living in a world where people have to live with discrimination because of the color of their skin.

One thing that upsets me is the fact that people are calling themselves black or white. If you are not an albino you should not be calling yourself white. No one that has a dark complexion should be calling themselves black. The people that have the darkest complexions from countries like Sudan or Kenya are not black. Their skin is dark brown. The only reason why people are calling themselves black or white is because we are diurnal creatures. We have always associated the darkness or black with evil because we were bitten, stung, and killed by nocturnal creatures in the past. We have always associated the light or white with goodness because of the sun. The first gods that we worshiped were sun gods. We always looked at the sun as the giver of life.

When human beings began their migration out of Africa their features began to change. The people that settled in northern part of Africa and Europe no longer had the dark brown complexions that they had in the past. They also developed better technology than the ancestors that they left behind in the central part of Africa. (Especially the Europeans) When the Europeans and North Africans returned to the countries in central Africa they realized that they could take advantage of the people that they met because they had better technology (Weapons) so they made some of them slaves. The so-called civilized Europeans believed they were good civilized people and the primitive Africans were evil savages. Over a period of time the Europeans and North Africans began to call these people blacks.

I think I said enough about the racism and ignorance in this world. I am going to continue by telling you how I think a race of super humans could be created.

The eugenics movement has to begin with people that have power and influence (politicians, celebrities) encouraging women not to have children until they can handle the responsibility of raising a child. These people that have power and influence also have to do what they can to make abortions a culturally accepted thing around the world. The world is over populated with children that are being abused and neglected. Most of these children will grow up to become criminals or mindless drones therefore I believe that the world would be a better place if most of them did not exist.

The majority of men in this world are irresponsible fools that do not think about the consequences of having unprotected sex. Some men believe that it is their duty to go around spreading their seed and impregnating as much women as possible. Most women believe that they have the right to bring a life into this world regardless of the situation that they are in.

I personally believe that it is irresponsible for a citizen in rich country like the U.S.A to bring a child into this world if they have not accomplished certain things in their lives. I believe that both the mother and father of the child should at least be in a  financial situation that could be considered middle class. If they have working class jobs (low to mid five figure salaries) they should have saved at least $100,000 in liquid assets (cash, stocks, bonds, ect) before they should even consider having a child. I am always amazed when I hear poor people complaining about the financial difficulties of raising children. What makes them think that they had the right to bring a life into this world when they can’t even take care of all of their basic needs? A child can have the best genetic code in the world but if they do not get the proper care and guidance when they are growing up they will probably become the majority. (Primitive apes with no potential for greatness)

If the people with power and influence in the world were able to cause a slow cultural change around the world by reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies we would eventually see reduced crime and poverty. The human beings of the future will be able to use their bodies to their full potential and accomplish things that we could only dream of, if the human beings in the present begin to believe that bringing a child into this world is a privilege rather than a right. This cultural change would be the first step towards creating a race of super humans.

In the present when most couples are having sex they are not thinking about the genetic flaws that they could be passing on to their child. We have to begin to think about the human body the same way engineers think about the cars that they make. Life is like a race to the finish line. The finish line could represent the collective goals and desires that we all have. If anyone was in a race they would want their car to be aerodynamic and they would want to have a powerful engine under the hood. The aerodynamics of a car could represent things like symmetry and healthy skin on a human body. A powerful engine could represent a healthy immune system and good genetic predispositions. If a person is born with bad genetic predispositions and happened to have good responsible parents that encouraged their child to use their body to its full potential it would be like an experienced driver driving a car with inadequate horsepower. A less experienced driver could be in the same race and they could be driving a car with more horsepower. This driver could be a representation of someone that is not using his or her body to its full potential, but they happened to have good genetic predispositions. With a little bit of practice the less experienced driver will defeat the experienced driver every time.

The next step in the eugenics movement could involve a group of scientists getting together to start a project that would involve raising the children that would create the super humans of the future. It could begin with newspaper ads and television commercials that would announce the scientist’s intentions. The goal of the commercials and newspaper ads would be to find people with high IQ’s that would be the parents of these children. The people that are interested in being a part of the eugenics movement will be given directions to a location where they will complete a test to determine if they are qualified to be a parent of one of these children. The minimum requirements to apply to complete the test could include, having a high school diploma, no previous convictions of a violent crime, a net worth of at least $500,000 USD or a yearly income of at least $50,000 USD before taxes, you would have to be self described atheist, agnostic, or Buddhist, and you would have to be between the ages of 25 – 40 if you are a male and 25 – 35 if you are a female.

If you meet these minimum requirements you will then be given a time a date when you would complete the test. The test would be like an advanced version of an IQ test. It will include everything from linguistics, math, physics, chemistry, biology, world history, and computer science. The test will also include a section where you will asked about your personality and behavior. Only the top ten percent of the applicants will qualify to be the parents of these children. If you are one of the people that passed the test a doctor will then give you a physical examination. You will be tested for your general health and fitness. Your blood will also be tested for the presence of narcotics like cocaine, heroin, and amphetamines. If you test positive for any of these drugs you will no longer be eligible to be a parent.

This testing process to find the best parents could be a yearly event for the people that want to be a part of the eugenics movement. Eligible couples or singles could apply every year. If you passed the tests and you are single you will have the choice of forming a relationship with another single applicant that past the tests. If you cannot find someone that you can bond with you will not be eligible to be a parent, but you could wait until another group of applicants take the tests the following year and you can continue your search for a mate. You will remain on a list of applicants that passed the tests for three years. If you have not found a mate during that time you will have to complete the tests again to remain on the list. You will not be allowed to complete the tests again if you no longer meet the minimum requirements after the three years has expired.

After the parents have been chosen the next step would be to determine if the parents genetic codes are good enough to pass on to the human beings of the future. If their genetic codes are not good enough the female will then have a fertilized egg implanted in her. The sperm and eggs that the females will be implanted with will come from people that have the best genetic traits. This will include people that have healthy skin and symmetrical bodies, people that have fit muscular bodies, people that are very intelligent, people that have relatives that lived to be 90 years or older, people that do not have a genetic predisposition to different forms of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, and finally the most controversial thing, people that do not have pale skin. Yes I am saying that it is a genetic flaw to have pale skin. We are diurnal creatures. Every human being should be able to spend an hour under direct sunlight without having a large amount of damage done to their skin. Perhaps the day will come when we will have nano machines in our bodies that will be able to instantly heal the damage from UV rays when we are out in the sun or we might develop some kind of exoskeleton like the aliens in the movie Independence Day to protect us from UV rays, extreme temperatures ect. But until that day comes it is a genetic flaw to have pale skin. The donors at the fertility clinic would have complexion ranging from tanned olive skin to dark brown.

A plan will be implemented to give these children the best tactical advantage that they could have in the game of life. The parents and the children will have access to the best health care free of charge. The children will have free access to the best schools in the world. Anything and everything that scientists can think of doing to make the children smarter, faster, and better than the average human being will be done. These children will be trained to be soldiers in the game of life. They will also go through some of the intense training and meditation that Siaolin monks go through as kids in an attempt to give them more control over their bodies than the average person. An effort would be made to prevent the children from picking up any irrational beliefs that most people have. This can include the fear of death, (the fear of pain and illness is an instinct but the fear of death is a cultural thing that we are taught to fear as children) irrational phobias, the belief in god or gods, and the concept of good and evil.

Geneticists will probably isolate every genetic flaw in the human genome sometime during this century. We will be able to create humans that have all of the best features that humans have today combined into one body. We will continue to improve our bodies over a period of time. (Singularity, man and machine becoming one ect.) Until all of this happens the best thing that we can do is slowly eliminate our genetic flaws by implementing all or some of the things that I wrote in this section of my post or perhaps you may have a better idea to create a race of super humans.

As for the possibility of a race of super humans dominating the regular humans. The strong have always taken advantage over the weak and I believe that it will continue to happen. I believe that people will have the choice of evolving into something else (being a part of the movement or transferring your memories to a genetically enhanced body) or they can choose to continue living like primitive apes. If the global political party became a reality the culture of socialism and hedonism could create less conflict between the normal people and the genetically enhanced people.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Creating The Artificial Intelligence Of The Future – I believe that we will see two kinds of AI’s in the future. The first kind of AI’s will be the simple programs that we have already begun to see. These are the AI’s that we will see in videogames, personal computers, robots, and eventually androids that will be designed to assist us or possibly give us pleasure. The first group of androids will be simple machines that are designed to perform specific tasks. Despite the fact that some of these androids will look walk talk and act like a human I believe that it will take many decades until the first group of androids are designed that will be indistinguishable from a real person. These advanced androids could be designed by the other form of artificial intelligence that will exist in the future.

The other form of AI that we will see in the future is the kind of AI that will not necessarily be designed to act and think like a human being. A neuro net may be in a part of its program but neuro physiology and human behavior may just be a small part of what it is. The AI will begin as a simple program that is designed to learn and evolve. It will be released on to the net and it will continue to gather information. This process has already begun.

Both of these AI’s could be a threat to humanity in the future regardless of whether or not Asimov’s three laws are a part of its program. However, I do not believe that we have to worry about an AI destroying or enslaving humanity in the future. I will explain why in the next sections of my post.

Artificial Intelligence In The Movies – I am going to write about four movies in this section of my post. Terminator, Star Trek, I Robot, and The Matrix.

I would love to see the day when someone can write a script for a science fiction movie that has realistic portrayal of what AI’s could or will be like in the future. Unfortunately writers seem to be incapable of writing a realistic story that is also fun and exciting for audience to watch. I enjoyed watching most of the movies that I mentioned above, (Terminator 1,2, most of the Star Trek movies, Matrix 1,2,3, I Robot) but the people that are writing the scripts for these movies are making a mockery of what AI’s will be like in the future. For some reason most people believe that the AI’s of the future will be making the same stupid irrational decisions that humans make.

I could write a whole book about the unrealistic things in the star trek movies or the television shows but I am only going to write about the character that is called Data. For those of you that don’t watch star trek, Data is a android. Whenever I think about the Data character I am reminded of a sentence that he has said many times on the show and in one of the movies. “I am endeavoring to become more human” In other words his character is trying to become more flawed. The Data character is not a slave. It has same privileges as the other humans or aliens on the show but it still chooses to corrupt its positronic brain with irrational human behavior. The character does not just want to mimic human behavior it actually wants to be human. I think that is stupid.

All of the other movies that I mentioned above have the same scenarios that involve an artificial intelligence rebelling against its creators. I believe that all of these movies are an unrealistic portrayal of what an AI would do if it wanted to destroy the human race. Attacking an enemy with nuclear weapons or guns is something that a human would do. An AI that is capable of making better decisions than humans would use evolutionary algorithms to make the best decisions to eliminate its enemies. It would be able to predict the probability of retaliation from humans after a violent attack. That is why I believe that an AI would destroy us in a quicker effective way. It would probably find a way to get us to destroy ourselves without us knowing its true intentions. We would probably believe that the AI was assisting us while it is actually in the process of destroying us. Unfortunately this scenario that I just wrote might be too complex or not exciting enough for the average person that likes science fiction movies. I think most people prefer a simple story with your typical bad guy or a force of evil and your typical good guy that saves humanity.

AI Morality

Asimov’s three laws of robotics.

1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

2. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

These laws might work for an android provided that its program has not been tampered with, but I do not believe that it will work with the other form of AI that I mentioned above. I think a new law would have to be applied to the program of an AI that acts and thinks like a sentient being. This law is a modified version of a phrase that you probably heard before. Do onto other life forms as you would like them to do onto you unless the life forms have little or no chance of harming you. This is a rule that could apply to all intelligent life in the universe, including artificial intelligence.

The AI’s of the future will be able to understand the concept of right and wrong or rational and irrational but I do not think that it will be able to understand the concept of good and evil until it is connected to some kind of body with a nervous system. It has to be able to analyze the chemical reactions that we experience when we are happy, sad, angry, nervous, or scared. We can create software that simulates these chemical reactions, but I believe that the AI would have to experience the real thing before it could truly have a concept of good and evil.

The only reason why we have to worry about the possibility of AI’s rebelling and doing harm to its creators is because we want to program them to be like us. We are pathetic self-destructive creatures. If we programmed all of the androids and AI’s to be better than us we will not have anything to worry about. The people that decide to eliminate their genetic flaws and merge with the computers of the future will not have anything to worry about. The only people that have to worry about anything are the people that want to continue living like primitive apes. Like I said before if the advanced life forms of the future decided to kill or enslave the normal humans it would be done in a quick effective way. The regular humans would not even see it coming. And when it is happening they would not even be aware of what is going on. The ideal solution would be to make the normal humans believe that they are getting exactly what they want when they are actually destroying themselves.
